Two more reasons I am thankful for being a vegetarian....

Last week our pastor shared a story from his friend that manages the local sliced meat company. It really sounds crazy, but we must believe our pastor...Needing to add extra filler to the meats, they go next door to the dump and get the maggots and regularly add it to the meat. With flavorings, of course. A few days later I heard from another missionary who knows someone that raises chickens. He has five thousand of them and recently over 1000 got sick with Hep. B. So what do you do with so many sick chickens, you might ask? Here, you just give them away!! Yep, very thankful to be a vegetarian!!!!

Update on the two year old little hemophiliac! Two hours after he received our friend Darin's blood, his bleeding stopped! We received another call for more blood so that his hemoglobin levels could be brought up. So Monday morning, Darin, Aaron and I(for curiosity sake) went to the regional hospital down town. What an experience! As you walk in, there is a mangy dog on the floor, the walls are differing shades of black, and just a general run-down feel. We made our way to the blood bank. The lady there recognized Darin and brought him in to draw some more blood. From there we went up to the little boy's room and visited with the family and had the opportunity to see the blood being transfused. What a miracle, the little boy's mom said that within 2 hours of the blood being in his body the first time, the bleeding stopped and his color returned to normal. This bit of blood was to help raise his hemoglobin so he could go home. Hmmm...slightly different procedure than in the states. Don't even recall checking blood bands, vital signs or anything of the sort! But the child is out of the hospital today! We are praising the LORD!!!

Had a wonderful baptism this last Sabbath! What an incredible place to have it! We walked about 2 kilometers to the river and there, as the sun was setting enjoyed a blessing as people gave their lives to God. One couple that was introduced had just been married the Thursday before.  A lot of people here in Peru don't marry, they just co-habit. They wanted to marry so that they were following God's will for their lives. Sadly, a while ago they lost their only little girl at the age of 3. Tragically, a brick wall fell on her as she was walking by. What a horrible time they have been having, yet staying firm and true to their God. What a witness!

Here are a few pictures of this week. Thank you for your continued prayers. At this point we will be leaving Peru the beginning of Dec. We are still praying that if God wants us to stay He will provide a way for our husband and father to be with us here! Please continue to pray for the organization and the girls that are at POPPY's house.

Forgot to mention that our littlest one was also dedicated!
